African Universities Gender Equality Forum

Array ( )
Standard event

The upcoming Gender Equality Forum, which takes place on 12 August, aims to explore the role of Africa’s academia in advancing gender equality in the workplace and eliminating gender-based violence (GBV).

African Universities - Gender-Equality

Co-hosted by the GBV #ITSNOTOK movement, the Shared Value Africa Initiative (SVAI) and the University of Johannesburg, the Forum is in support of all women and children – on our continent and across the globe – who endure some form of abuse, every day of their lives.

We as #ITSNOTOK and SVAI believe it is time for our academic collective to unite and come together to create a force for good that cannot be ignore and, through research and validation, influence both the private and public sectors in advocating for behaviour and policy change.

To this end, the forum aims to facilitate a collaborative platform for academic institutions on the African continent to raise their voices as a collective and agree on societal impact initiatives to help eliminate GBV and increase Gender Equality.
