Support for less privileged students in education – Ghana

Array ( [0] => 6 ) News,

Walk the path of humanity and serve the underprivileged.

This month, we focus on the Akanyoweh Foundation, a young non-profit organisation operating in the Kassena Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region of Ghana. The Foundation helps less fortunate students get an education, especially those who didn’t finish school and want to start their own businesses in their own communities. It also supports and directs women into self-reliant and sustainable economic ventures.

Learners in classroom

The Foundation currently has five students under its educational sponsorship programme. These students were picked from the junior high school in 2016 and are now in the senior high school. The Foundation pays their school fees, takes care of their educational materials, uniforms, bags, and shoes, and pays for their health insurance premiums

With your support (donations or sponsorship), the Akanyoweh Foundation aims to support more students, with a special focus on women’s groups in society, as well as help build clinics and vocational training centers within local communities.

The Foundation was founded by Amongba Awine Ebenezer, with the support and contributions of friends. He conceived the idea of forming a foundation that would help needy students and others achieve their dream-goals. He successfully mobilised a few friends and, with their help, was able to get the foundation started on October 15, 2015.
