Angela Wamola

Angela Wamola brings on board her passion and strategic thought leadership in enabling digital transformation in the region. A leader, well trained in high performance teams, she is currently a Senior Director, Strategic Engagement for GSMA in Sub Saharan Africa, a trade body that represents the interests of 800+ mobile operators worldwide.  

She is a seasoned professional responsible for fostering rich partnerships through collaborative engagements across multiple stakeholders. Her value addition leverages insights on regional and global industry trends towards the sustainable delivery of digital services for consumers and businesses, connecting everything and everyone to a better future. 

Angela has 20 years of business leadership experience in digital transformation environments having built a reputation for oversight in the adaption of new technologies that lend towards operational sustainability and innovative strategic thinking. She is committed to the highest level of integrity, gender equality and has a natural affinity for convening, facilitating and building consensus among diverse individuals and cultures.

She founded and provided leadership for Safaricom Women In Technology (WIT) platform fostering partnerships with Universities, Schools, ICT Authority, Local and Global organisations such as TechnovationGirls. She received the Safaricom Technology HEKO Award (2014-15), CEO Award Safaricom Way Heroes (2014-15) and Kenya ICT Authority Women in STEM Recognition (2015) at Connected East Africa. 

Angela is a member of the Village Capital Communities Africa advisory board, Shared Value Africa Initiative Kenya Working Group, Smart Africa Digital Identity Working Group.  She holds a Executive Masters in Business Administration degree from University of Cape Town and a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from University of Nairobi. She speaks and writes in English, Swahili and French.
