Dr Mumbi Wachira

Dr. Mumbi Maria Wachira is a full-time Accounting Lecturer at Strathmore University Business School (SBS), Nairobi. She obtained both her Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) and Master of Commerce (MCom) degrees at Strathmore University, and her Ph.D. at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.

Her teaching areas are Financial Reporting, Forensic Accounting and the Legal Environment, Corporate Fraud, Accounting Theory, and Sustainable Finance. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate programs within the business school. In addition to teaching and research, Dr. Wachira has also been involved in the training and consulting of micro-enterprises operating within Nairobi in collaboration with the Institute for Small Business Initiatives (ISBI). Currently, she is involved in developing customized executive programs for businesses seeking to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals into their core business operations.

Dr. Wachira is the current head of participant engagement for the UN-PRME Chapter Africa. She is also the academic lead in developing a short executive course on Creating Shared Value (CSV) that is aligned to Harvard’s offering on the same, in addition to other sustainability leadership programs offered by SBS. In November 2020 she attended the Purpose Playbook delivered by the global Shared Value Initiative.
